Machiya Hideaway for 2 near Kyoto Station

Serviced accommodation in stylish wooden townhouse

Just minutes away from a hub of rail and bus connections, the Lounge at West Kujo serves as a convenient base for long-term stays in Japan’s old capital.

Kyoto Station – a 5-minute walk from the Lounge – offers easy access not only to Kansai International Airport and major Japanese cities, but also the city’s subway network: the Karasuma Line runs from north to south Kyoto and connects commuters to the east-west Tozai Line. Adding to the convenience, the station’s bus terminal hosts services that cover most of Kyoto are available at the station's terminal.

The Lounge is also within walking distance of malls, supermarkets, and formal and casual restaurants, not to mention Unesco World Heritage site Toji temple, which holds a popular open-air market every month.

Though close to a transport and commercial hub, the Lounge is located in a quiet lane, offering a rare combination of convenience and privacy.

The interior reflects the tranquility of the neighbourhood, with clean lines and muted tones creating a modern Japanese aesthetic. To reduce the clutter, the built-in bunk bed can be hidden from view by a wooden sliding door.

The only ornamentation is a woodblock artwork created for the Lounge by Kira Karacho 1624, which has specialised in karakami prints for 4 centuries.

A small garden, which can be seen from the shower area and kitchenette, offers the eye more rest.

Apart from the fully-equipped kitchenette, the Lounge also comes with a washer-dryer, heated flooring and wi-fi. Housekeeping and a change of bed linens on a weekly basis are offered for an even more comfortable stay.
